Before choosing the equipment
Provide product types, incoming product conditions, delivery frequency and door-opening patterns. Ask how floors, panels, seals and equipment placement affect the proposed installation.
What belongs in the quote
Define temperature expectations, alarm arrangements and commissioning checks. Include drainage, electrical work and ownership of enclosure repairs in the scope.
Think about the surrounding system
Describe the product being stored, temperature requirements, loading patterns and hours of operation. Ask how the design accounts for stock arriving warm, frequent door openings and heat released into surrounding areas. Establish alarm responsibility and an outage plan before the equipment goes into service.
Three questions for your contractor
- What product and loading assumptions were used?
- Who supplies and seals the enclosure?
- Who responds to a temperature alarm?
Prepare a useful first conversation
Bring the site location, building use, equipment model details and photographs of accessible equipment. Describe the problem or planned change and any access or shutdown constraints. Ask the contractor to identify design assumptions, excluded work, required approvals and who will commission the finished system.
