Before choosing the equipment
List stock volumes, door-opening frequency and the kitchen conditions around the cabinet. Ask about access clearance, ventilation around equipment and electrical requirements before ordering.
What belongs in the quote
Clarify delivery access, commissioning and removal of the old cabinet. Request the operating range, alarm features and maintenance access information for the exact model.
Think about the surrounding system
Describe the product being stored, temperature requirements, loading patterns and hours of operation. Ask how the design accounts for stock arriving warm, frequent door openings and heat released into surrounding areas. Establish alarm responsibility and an outage plan before the equipment goes into service.
Three questions for your contractor
- Will the cabinet fit through the delivery route?
- What clearance and power does it need?
- How are temperature excursions identified?
Prepare a useful first conversation
Bring the site location, building use, equipment model details and photographs of accessible equipment. Describe the problem or planned change and any access or shutdown constraints. Ask the contractor to identify design assumptions, excluded work, required approvals and who will commission the finished system.
