Before choosing the equipment
List fixtures likely to run together and describe current delays or temperature complaints. Ask how the proposed fuel or electrical supply supports the selected unit.
What belongs in the quote
Include venting where applicable, water treatment considerations and any circulation arrangement. Request expected performance at the site's incoming water conditions.
Think about the surrounding system
Bring the number of users, simultaneous fixtures and any commercial process demand. Ask for a sizing explanation, available energy options and a complete connection scope. The proposal should address placement, service access, drainage and coordination with the plumbing contractor, not just the heater itself.
Three questions for your contractor
- What simultaneous flow was assumed?
- Are energy-supply upgrades needed?
- How will wait time and maintenance be addressed?
Prepare a useful first conversation
Bring the site location, building use, equipment model details and photographs of accessible equipment. Describe the problem or planned change and any access or shutdown constraints. Ask the contractor to identify design assumptions, excluded work, required approvals and who will commission the finished system.
