Before choosing the equipment
Describe household hot-water use and the proposed installation location. Ask about room-air requirements, condensate drainage, electrical supply and recovery during high demand.
What belongs in the quote
Compare the complete installation with other storage options. Request the operating-mode explanation, access requirements and plan for periods of unusually high hot-water use.
Think about the surrounding system
Bring the number of users, simultaneous fixtures and any commercial process demand. Ask for a sizing explanation, available energy options and a complete connection scope. The proposal should address placement, service access, drainage and coordination with the plumbing contractor, not just the heater itself.
Three questions for your contractor
- Is the location suitable for its air requirements?
- How is peak demand covered?
- Where does condensate drain?
Prepare a useful first conversation
Bring the site location, building use, equipment model details and photographs of accessible equipment. Describe the problem or planned change and any access or shutdown constraints. Ask the contractor to identify design assumptions, excluded work, required approvals and who will commission the finished system.
