Before choosing the equipment
Discuss uneven cooling, noisy registers and humidity concerns before requesting a model. Ask how the indoor coil, blower and ductwork will be matched to the proposed outdoor equipment.
What belongs in the quote
Require matched model details, drainage work and any airflow corrections in the scope. Request recorded startup checks and a demonstration of the cooling controls.
Think about the surrounding system
Cooling selection begins with the rooms, glazing, occupancy and humidity conditions. Request a load assessment and ask how airflow, drainage and noise will be addressed. The installation scope should identify the indoor and outdoor equipment together, including any changes to electrical service or distribution.
Three questions for your contractor
- What load assessment supports the size?
- Which indoor components need replacement?
- How will drainage and airflow be checked?
Prepare a useful first conversation
Bring the site location, building use, equipment model details and photographs of accessible equipment. Describe the problem or planned change and any access or shutdown constraints. Ask the contractor to identify design assumptions, excluded work, required approvals and who will commission the finished system.
